2nd World PetroCoal Congress-2012

The 2nd World PetroCoal Congress - 2012 held on 15-17 February 2012 at Convention Centre-NDCC, New Delhi served as an excellent energy platform for the global petroleum, natural gas and coal industry.

At the inaugural ceremony of the congress, Energy And Environment Foundation awarded the prestigious "Energy And Environment Global Excellence Award-2012" in the Petroleum, Coal and Natural Gas Sectors. Energy And Environment Foundation conferred the Excellence Award to Shri S. C. Tripathi, Former Secretary to the Government of India (MoP&NG) and Dr. Jean Georges Malcor President & CEO, CGGVeritas France for their excellent contribution in Petroleum Sector. Dr. M. P. Narayanan Former Chairman, Coal India and Mr. Tshepo Kgadima, Founder President & CEO, LontohCoal Ltd South Africa were awarded for their excellent contribution in Coal Sector. Dr. A. K. Balyan MD & CEO Petronet LNG Limited was conferred the award in Gas Sector for his excellent contribution.

2nd World PetroCoal Congress for deliberated various issues related to petroleum, natural gas, coal through creation of synergy for energy. The congress was attended by large number of national and international delegates from Australia, France, Hong Kong, Oman, Singapore, South Africa. The congress brought together leading international and domestic players, policy makers, government officials and technocrats on a common platform.

Shri B. K. Chaturvedi, Member Planning Commission (Energy), Government of India delivered the theme address and highlighted the importance of synergy in the energy mix for sustainable development. The concurrent conference sessions were comprised of interesting workshops, interactive panel discussions and round table business sessions. While delivering the valedictory address, Mr. Alok Perti, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Coal emphasized the importance of synergy in various sectors of energy for the energy security of our country. He also interacted with the participants and viewed various technologies and products on display at the exhibition. The conference and exhibition had served as an important gateway for worldwide new energy companies to access the Indian market to foster partnerships and collaborations with local players.

The congress was supported by Ministries of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Coal, Power, Earth Sciences and sponsored by QR National Australia, Oil India Limited, PetroGas E&P, Indian Oil Limited, Petronet LNG. Clean Coal Technology, UCG, World Coal Association and a large number of professional associations supported this international congress. Ernst & Young Pvt Ltd was the Knowledge Partner of the congress.  It was decided that:

  • Knowledge dissemination among the petroleum, natural gas and coal industries should be encouraged to enable sharing of best practices and domain specific knowledge. The World PetroCoal Congress will float an interactive website and also encourage video conferencing.
  • World PetroCoal Congress extends its invitation to the fossil fuel community world-wide to reassemble in New Delhi in 15th to 17th February 2013 to enhance knowledge partnership in technology, business and human resource development.
